Vay Tiá»n TráșŁ GĂłp 24 ThĂĄng. To celebrate the 50th career anniversary of Mr. Jean Todt, the president of the FIA âFederation Internationale de l'Automobileâ, Richard Mille released the RM 11-03 Jean Todt Limited Edition during the 3rd Edition of Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille Concours dâĂlĂ©gance. The FIA is the governing body of motor sports and the organization that aims to safeguard the rights and promote the interests of motorists and motor sports. The third watch released by Richard Mille in collaboration with Jean Todt âthe first one the RM 036 Tourbillon G-Sensor Jean Todt, the second one the RM 58-01 World Timer Jean Todt, the fourth one the RM 056 Jean Todt Sapphire and the fifth one the RM 050 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph we featured hereâ, the RM 11-03 Jean Todt available in a limited edition of only 150 pieces, features a striking blue case âa first for Richard Milleâ with a redesigned vented black rubber strap, a flyback 12-hour chronograph, 60-minute countdown and annual calendar. The DialVery similar in design to all other RM 11s, the Richard Mille RM 11-03 Jean Todt Limited Edition features a dial almost identical to most Felipe Massa's limited editions with the exception of the white writing between 8 and 7 o'clock that reads RM11-03 J. Todt. Fitted with a sapphire dial with a mere thickness of mm, the Richard Mille Jean Todt features a flyback chronograph, a 60-minute countdown timer and an annual calendar in what we think is a relatively busy dial but that follows the unmistakable look of Richard Mille watches. The dial layout features a running seconds indicator at 3 o'clock, a monocounter 12-hour chrono register at 6 with hour and minute indicator, a 60-minute countdown timer indicator at 9 o'clock, a double date window located at 12 o'clock that displays the date thanks to a double sapphire disc system located at 10 and 2 o'clock respectively and a clever numeric month indicator located between 4 and 5 o'clock. The dial features yellow and green accents throughout the tachymetric scale and the registers and the skeletonized hands with luminescent material have bright red contrasting tips. The Case & StrapFollowing the design principle of all other RM11-03s recalling the world of motor sports, the case of the Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt features the same silhouette that first appeared with the RM 27-01 Rafael Nadal. Still maintaining a tripartite case construction, the case is made of NTPT Blue Carbon and NTPT Black Carbon. While we absolutely love the NTPT technology Richard Mille uses, we are not too fond of the blue washed off look on the bezel and case back of this new watch. Equipped with the traditional oversized pullout crown, this time the crown features a design borrowed from competition wheel rims and tires with grooves and treading on its blue O-ring. The specially shaped and engraved pushers are fully in line with the highly recognizable design cues of the RM 011 collection with etched lines inspired by the pedal surfaces of racing cars. The Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt Limited Edition is equipped with a new redesigned vented black rubber strap with titanium DLC-coated double folding clasp. This newly redesigned strap features more prominent and angular vents opposed to the more rectangular vents on all the other Richard Mille rubber straps. The MovementThe beating heart inside the Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt Limited Editon is the new RMAC3 automatic calibre. Accentuated by an upper bridge in satin-brushed grade 5 titanium that contrasts with the rest of the movement âalso crafted in titanium but with a PVD coatingâ, its two barrels mounted side by side, ensure stable coupling while providing a power reserve of around 55 hours. The 4 Hz free sprung balance is highly resistant to shocks and can be tuned more precisely than a traditional balance wheel. This new movement is also fitted with a new variable-geometry rotor in grade 5 titanium, inspired by the aerodynamic front spoiler wings seen in Formula 1 cars. This special rotor, makes possible to adjust the automatic winding of the watch to the wearerâs activity level by varying the inertia of the rotor thanks to two microblasted and chamfered wings in 18K white gold. Offering six possible positions, the grade 5 satin-brushed and PVD-treated titanium rotor is mounted on ceramic ball bearings. On the Wrist & PricingOn the wrist, the Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt Limited Edition wears true to its size and with impressive wrist presence. The watch wears loud due to its NTPT blue case construction but extremely comfortably. While we are not crazy about the blue hue on the case of this new Richard Mille, we can definitely see ourselves wearing this watch as one of those eye-catching timepieces that complement a very large and highly valuable watch Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt Limited Edition is perfect for filling that empty spot in a watch box full of other Richard Mille watches, but not necessarily to be your first Richard Mille timepiece. The good thing about Richard Milleâs design is that it is so special and avant-garde that is really hard to dislike them, despite the use of a crazy color combination like on this particular watch. The Richard Mille RM11-03 Jean Todt is available in a 150-piece limited edition. Sticker Price $140,000 USD. For more info on Richard Mille click here.
Richard Mille has partnered with many superstars the world over to bring us innovative watches that we can relate to our heroes. They include Cyril Kongo, a French painter and graffiti artist, with whom the fruitful collaboration resulted in the extraordinarily colourful RM 68-01 Kongo Tourbillon; RM 61-01 Yohan Blake with sprinter Yohan Blake that features the emblematic yellow and green of the Jamaican flag; and tennis maestro Rafael Nadal. Such is Richard Milleâs dedication towards creating excellent watches in partnerships with only a handful of those who have made it to the respective summit of their field. These watches incorporate technological breakthroughs in their construction. Innovative materials such as Quartz TPT, Graph TPT, NTPT, among others, are used, not just for the sake of showcasing its savoir-faire but to increase the watchesâ durability in all conditions. This is the reason why Richard Mille has managed to establish its formidable presence at the very top of haute horlogerie in a short span of time. The manufacture was only founded in 1999. But what it lacks in age, it makes it up with boldness and innovation. Never one to rest on its laurels, Richard Mille has decided to honour motorsport legend Jean Todt for his 50 years of hard work, dedicating his life to the very sport that he loves. Current president of the FIA, Todt is perhaps best remembered for his reign as general manager at Scuderia Ferrari from 1994 to 2007. Under whose watch, F1 legend Michael Schumacher won five F1 driversâ championships and Scuderia Ferrari was crowned constructorsâ champion seven times. Itâs a glittering career with a list of achievements that few can match. Todtâs relationship with Richard Mille isnât confined to a one-off collaboration, but one that goes back to when he was introduced to Richard Mille by his son. In an exclusive interview, Todt divulges that he is an avid watch collector and âRichard Mille himself is a creative genius who has succeeded in doing something with technology that no-one had mastered until nowâ.To understand that statement, one has to wind back the clock and trace the roots. Back in 2013, Richard Mille officially debuted the RM 036 Tourbillon G-Sensor Jean Todt Limited Edition at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie GenĂšve to much acclaim. The curved, ergonomic case of the watch specifically requested by Todt for this exceptional timepiece houses the RM036 calibre, a tourbillon movement made entirely of grade 5 titanium and ARCAP, with a carbon nano-fibre baseplate. This combination of materials provides the movement with optimal resistance and flatness, and draws a sublime contrast with the finishing, which includes polishing, shot-blasting and satin-brushing. The manually wound mechanical calibre features hours, minutes and seconds combined with a brand-new complication a mechanical G-sensor. The G-sensor system was developed and patented by Renaud Papi exclusively for Richard Mille, and translates the movement of a small internal mechanism to an indicator, thereby enabling the wearer to visualise the forces. Composed of over 50 parts and measuring a mere 17mm, the RM 036âs G-sensor can withstand decelerations of several tens of Gs. Only 15 pieces were produced. After that, along came the Tourbillon RM 58-01 World Timer Jean Todt Limited Edition with just 35 units produced. Understanding the strain of hopping between various time zones in a packed F1 schedule, the watch allows for easy reading of time zones and operating of the mechanism. Unlike other GMT watches, the Tourbillon RM 58-01 World Timer Jean Todt Limited Edition doesnât need any adjusting of the push piece to change from one time zone to another. The time is set by simply rotating the bezel anticlockwise, making adjustment a much quicker operation. All one needs to do is to position the name of the city where he or she has just landed at 12 oâclock, which automatically sets local time and the time in the other 23 world cities thanks to the 24-hour scale engraved on the flange. Fast forward to today and for this special occasion, Richard Mille dedicates three models to Todt, each bearing his name and favourite colours RM 11-03, RM 050 and RM 056 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary. The RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary is a thoroughbred sports watch, wholly inspired by automobiles and their history while displaying the new visual codes of the brand. Powered by an architectural automatic calibre in grade 5 titanium, the RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary is protected by a new blue and white Quartz TPT case. Both extremely resistant and light, this composite is obtained by stacking 600 layers of silica at only 45 microns thick, which are then impregnated with an exclusive Richard Mille blue resin. The assembly is then heated to 120°C before being machined in the Richard Mille manufacture. Among the three watches introduced, the RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary is produced in a higher quantity but no less exclusive than the other two. After all, it is only available in a highly limited edition of 150 pieces. On the other hand, the same blue Quartz TPT is also utilised for the case of the RM 050 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary. This calibre houses a split-second chronograph regulated by a tourbillon. The extreme skeletonisation of the bridges and baseplate, combined with the use of titanium and carbon nano-fibre made it possible to obtain a particularly light movement, weighing only but offering startling performance. Only a total of five pieces will be produced for this limited edition. The last of three but also the rarest of all â only three units will be released. The RM 056 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary contains the split-second chronograph function. Its sapphire caseâs construction and curvature require both human ingenuity and very long machining time, essential to achieving this level of ergonomics and finish, unique even in fine watchmaking. This case requires more than 1,000 hours of machining, including 430 hours devoted to grinding and 350 hours of polishing. With the release of this exceptional collection, Todt and Richard Mille have forged a stronger friendship based on their shared passion for watches and excellence.
Jean Todt, President of the FIA, is a man in great demand, traveling thousands of kilometers around the globe every year for official events and conferences. Richard Mille conceived a timepiece offering extreme travellers like Jean Todt an easy and useful method for keeping track of travel through time zones . This manually winding movement has hours, minutes and a 10-day power reserve shown on an indicator at 2 oâclock. The caliber RM58-01, 34mm in diameter, is supported on a baseplate of grade 5 titanium, a material also utilized for the bridges. The tourbillon, positioned at 9 oâclock and oscillating at a frequency of 3Hz, is accommodated in a four-part case made from titanium and red gold. The shot-blasted, satin-brushed and polished rotating bezel bears the names of 24 world cities, symbols of the international 24 time zones on its brown upper flange. Behind this apparent simplicity hides a technical mechanism of great complexity. The RM 58-01 does not need any adjusting push-piece to change from one time zone to another. The time is set by simply rotating the bezel anticlockwise, making adjustment a quicker operation. All the traveller needs to do is position the name of the city where he or she has just landed at 12 oâclock, which automatically sets local time and the time in the other 23 world cities thanks to the 24-hour scale engraved on the flange. The black and white disc distinguishes day from night for the user automatically, so there is no possibility of confusion. This innovation is the outcome of many hours of work by Richard Milleâs movement and case engineers, who managed the feat of linking the bezel and movement with a special gear train for perfect interaction, while ensuring that the whole timepiece remains perfectly water-resistant. The RM 58-01 World Timer is produced as a limited edition of 35 timepieces. Profits from the sale of this exceptional watch will be transferred to two key initiatives close to Jean Todtâs heart the Global Campaign for Road Safety as well as the ICM Brain and Spine Institute, which he co-founded.

To call Richard Mille a âluxury sensationâ would probably be accurate. The super high-end Swiss watch brand likely considers this almost $150,000 timepiece practically entry-level given its many million-dollar-plus creations â and yet, so much of why Richard Mille as a watchmaker is popular is in this particular limited edition watch. In a captivating marbled blue and white case produced from Quartz TPT material â the Richard Mille RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary timepiece is a salute to a friend of the brand as well as proof that even high-luxury can be trendy. âTimeless and classicâ are not terms youâd generally hear from anyone speaking about Richard Mille products â especially people at the company itself. Inspired by the philosophy of a total focus on the performance-over-cost mentality borrowed from other industries such as the world of Formula 1 racing, Richard Mille products are all about pushing the envelope of possibility. All images by David Bredan Depending on who you ask, that push by Richard Mille seems to be equally in areas of technical mechanics, design, marketing strategy, and of course, pricing. Letâs return to this particular limited edition of 150 pieces RM 11-03, which again sees Richard Mille paying homage to Mr. Jean Todt of racing, Ferrari, and Formula 1 fame. The particular purpose of the watch is on the thinner side, being directly attributed to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jean Todtâs âcareer.â More specifically, like many other luxury watches, this product is, in fact, an authentic celebration trophy for Mr. Todt, his buddies, and fans I wrote here why watches make the best trophies. The celebration is indeed for Mr. Todt and Richard Mille as opposed to the buyers themselves, but it is a tacit reminder by Richard Mille to its consumers that âyou should make or buy a watch when you too have such a celebration to recognize.â It is well established in the luxury world that consumers no matter their budget level are the most inspired to purchase something such as watch when they are seeking to commemorate something. Itâs a great opportunity for Richard Mille to experiment with colors and further develop the legendary RM 11 watch collection which helped put the brand on the map. In its advanced form, the RM 11 has the same useful movements, but an exotic case produced from Quartz TPT, a material produced in Switzerland and borrowed from performance vehicles. The material is a dense layering of hundreds of sheets of silica which are mere microns thick for each layer. The blue is merely cosmetic, but it wouldnât be a Richard Mille without an invigorated splash of color. Richard Mille first released a Quartz TPT-cased watch back in 2015 with the RM 27-02 Rafael Nadal. In that previous article you can learn more about the lightweight, yet very strong and visually interesting material. No, it isnât as iconic as gold or platinum but you canât âimpregnateâ â which is the actual term Richard Mille uses â those traditional luxury materials with colors such as blue, red, green, yellow, and white as has been done to a range of high-end limited watches by the brand. A brief look at Richard Mille watches produced from Quartz TPT covered on aBlogtoWatch demonstrates the visual variety available â more so, how successful use of exotic and modern materials such as this have been for a brand like Richard Mille. Richard Mille himself, and the brand do indeed hang closely with people like Mr. Todt. Part of the honesty in their relationship is what makes limited editions such as this perhaps more interesting to watch lovers than those we see from many other watch brands where the relationship feels a lot more like simple marketing. That Jean Todt and Richard Mille would continue to celebrate Todtâs life and achievements together makes sense â partially because Mr. Todt himself is the archetype of someone who should be a Richard Mille customer. More so, this RM 11-03 is far from the most expensive timepiece Richard Mille has made in honor of the man. With that said, it happens to be particularly nice. Perhaps it is because blue as color is particularly en vogue right now, or because of how nicely the RM 11 collection has aged. What makes this watch special from a watch collectorâs perspective is that the caliber RM11 movement continues to stand out. The 4Hz, 55 hour power reserve automatic combined both a chronograph as well as an annual calendar month as well as a big date indicator together. As practical as this combination seems to be, few if any other watch brands have attempted to offer a competing product. The RM11 movement also looks fantastic. Entirely skeletonized, being produced using finely finished titanium bridges, the movement view is a less than subtle reminder to the owner of why an item such as this might cost so much. Few brands are as skilled as Richard Mille when it comes to displaying modern microcosms in their full mechanical glory. In an age when mechanical watches are increasingly distinct from their smartwatch siblings, showing off the guts of your watch has never been more popular. The RM 11-03 in the Quartz TPT case follows the classic Richard Mille tonneau-shape but with some crenelation for the case screws. It is wide, tall, and thick. The watch comes on a âventedâ custom black rubber strap and looks about as much like a contemporary super-machine on the wrist as you could hope for. If you need to explain why Richard Mille does as well as it does, it is because it respects the rules of traditional watchmaking while incorporating almost entirely modern design elements and themes. Richard Mille watches are also not at all shy about being noticed â and what I think is common across all Richard Mille owners is that they are happy about the perceived attention. As a limited edition of 150 pieces, the Richard Mille RM 11-03 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary watch has a retail price of $140,000 USD.
